These are are lyrics to the song “Red Star” by Third Eye Blind. They are one of my favorite bands. Third Eye Bling has so many different songs, each with their own creative sound. I saw this band perform in concert two years also and I really liked they way that they played this song.

Current Event: Virginia Tech Shooting

On Thursday, December 8, 2011 there was a double shooting at Virginia Tech. The police are investigating the death of 39 year-old Virginia Tech Police Officer Deriek Crouse. A second person, who is believed to be the shooter was also found dead not far from where Crouse was shot. Investigators say that they are confident that they identified the suspect of the shootings. The two men were both killed with the same gun, and the other man matched the description of the gunman who killed the officer. Officials plan to reveal the shooter’s identity after an official determination is made. The suspect was not a student at the university. This incident brought back sad memories of the 2007 mass shooting that killed 33 people at Virginia Tech. This incident that occurred Thursday tested the new policies that the school implemented after the 2007 shootings. Campus officials put out six alerts to students and faculty about the shooting. Students were confined into buildings, and the alert system worked well. My thoughts go out to the families of the victims, and to everyone who attends Virginia Tech that they are all staying safe. While this event is very sad, it should make other colleges and universities think of what they would do if something like that ever happened to them. Colleges should have plans and a way of alerting students if something unfortunate like that should ever happen. It makes me think about my own school and what we would do here at Westfield State University if a tragedy ever happened here.

Vacation Review

This past summer I went on vacation to Hershey, Pennsylvania. I went with my friend and her family. Much of her extended family joined us on vacation too, so there were about twenty five people in total. We stayed in campers at the Hershey Highmeadow Campground. On this vacation, we spent the majority of our time at Hershey Park. This is a very large park that features many roller coasters and a wide variety of other rides. Besides the rides, the park also offers many different kinds of food and entertainment. There is also a water park and large zoo within Hershey Park. The park was very clean and up to date. There are many new rides, and the park is continuing to expand, with a new roller coaster currently under construction.It was the kind of place where you could stay there all day and never get bored with it. In addition to the actual park, another attraction is Chocolate World. This is right outside the actual park. Chocolate World has many shops and places to get food. It also features a ride that takes you through the process of making chocolate. The campground that we stayed in was also very nice. They offered shuttle busses to the park from the campground so that it was easy to get back and forth with a large group of people. Overall, I had a great time on this vacation. I would definitely recommend Hershey, Pennsylvania as a good place to go on vacation. I think that it is great for kids and other people of all ages. Even if you don’t want to spend all of your time at the park there are plenty of other things to do in the surrounding area.

How to make a sandwich

When you need to make a quick lunch or just want a little snack, something that is fast and easy to make is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a delicious food enjoyed by almost everyone. They are easy to make and taste great! Here are some simple instructions to making a perfect peanut butter and jelly.

First, take out a plate, butter knife, peanut butter, jelly, and two slices of bread. Next, open the jar of peanut butter. Then, using the knife, spread some peanut butter onto one slice of bread.

Next, open thejar of jelly. Spread some jelly onto the other piece of bread.

Finally, press the two slices of bread together. Before putting the slices together, some people like to add bananas slices to their sandwich. This is an optional addition though, not everyone likes fruit in their sandwiches.

Now you can enjoy your peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

Black Friday (Response to current event)

Christmas seems to come earlier every year. Stores start advertising sooner, and Black Friday deals are now starting earlier. Some stores including Target and Best Buy opened Thursday night at midnight. Other stores including some Walmart locations opened at 10 PM Thursday night. People gather in lines outside of these stores waiting to get some good deals. Personally, I think this is crazy. I would not wait for hours outside of a store with tons of other people to run in as soon as the doors open and fight over the merchandise. This past Black Friday, there was an incident in a Los Angeles Walmart where a woman sprayed others with pepper spray so that she had a better chance of getting an XBox 360 at a discounted price. 20 people received minor injuries, and the woman later turned herself into authorities. I cannot believe some of the crazy things people do to get a good deal. Black Friday seems to be going form a harmless day to get some Christmas shopping done to a day of stress and even injuries. If Black Friday keeps continuing on this trend, I think that eventually stores will start to do away with this tradition.

Movie Review

I recently went home  for the long weekend, and one night I watched the movie Bridesmaids with some of my friends. Bridesmaids is a comedy that was released on DVD last month. In the movie, Annie, one of the main characters is going through a tough time in her life. She is broke and has been in many failed relationships. When her best friend Lilian gets engaged, Annie agrees to be her maid of honor and everything goes downhill from there. I won’t give away anything else that happens in the movie in case anyone wants to watch it sometime. Overall I thought it was a good movie. I thought that it started out slow but once it picked up it was very funny. The movie was a little long, but overall I really liked it. It is definitely a movie worth watching.
